William W. Childress of St. Elmo, Formerly of Decatur, passed away April 2, 1969 in Vandalia, Fayette Co., Il. He was born in Fayette County, Il. on May 11, 1882 the son of Nathan and Sarah Jane Enlow Childress.
He first married Miss Maye Scholes, who preceded him in death, also an infant son. He later married Mrs. Emma (Baughman) Scholes who passed away a few year later. He was a retired construction worker and moved to St. Elmo in 1954.
He leaves three step-daughters; brothers Charles and Cleve of Beecher City, Jess of St. Elmo; sister, Mrs. Dessie Logsdon of Herrick, 14 step-grandchildren and 32 step great-grandchildren.
