Clarence Wayne Darrow

Darrow, C.W. (Wayne), 85, went to be with his Lord on December 14, 2009, after a brief battle with the effects of a stroke. He was born November 20th, 1924 to William Floyd and Carrie Darrow, the second of four brothers. He was born and raised on an 80-acre farm close to Canute in Western Oklahoma.

The family endured droughts, sand storms, and lean times through the Depression and beyond, but always served as examples to others with their dedication to each other and the small, country Church of Christ in Canute. Wayne worked in the oil fields of Western Oklahoma and North Texas until he joined Mid Continent Supply Company where he was a loyal employee for 38 years. Wayne married Bette, the love of his life, in 1945 and they recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. He was a devoted member of Prestoncrest Church of Christ in Dallas.

Wayne was preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as his brother Charles.

He is survived by his wife, Bette, his son Terry, and daughter-in-law Jane, his granddaughter Lindsey Cobb, her husband Sonny, and his two great-granddaughters Taylor and Morgan. He is also survived by his two brothers – Loyd of Elk City, Oklahoma, and Glen of Malvern, Arkansas.

Wayne left a beautiful legacy of love and devotion to his family, his friends, and his Lord. In his passing, as in his life, Wayne built and nurtured relationships with his example of how life can and should be lived. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 16th at 11 am at Prestoncrest Church of Christ (12700 Preston Rd., Dallas) in the main sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wayne Darrow's name to the Prestoncrest Church of Christ Missionary Fund.
