Ella Bailey Benjamin
Ella Fewless, daughter of James and Luana Jones Fewless was born in Iosco township, Livingston County, Michigan, September 18, 1855. She was united in marriage to James I. Bailey May 20, 1877. Mr. Bailey died May 19, 1889. On August 24, 1904 she was married to David Benjamin who died in 1907. Mrs. Benjamin spent nearly all of her life in the vicinity of Fowlerville except for three years which she spent in Lansing and a few winters with her daughter Mrs. C.J. Nelson at Saginaw, where she died September 12, aged 80 years, 11 months and 24 days.
She was a good Christian woman, the best of mothers, and a friend to everyone. For many years she was a loyal member of the Methodist Episcopal church and an active worker in the womans societies.
Surviving are three children Mrs. Louise Bailey Griffin of Pensucola, Fla.; Mrs. Harriett Bailey Nelson of Saginaw and James I Bailey of Detroit; three granddaughters, also one sister, Mrs. Hannah Foster, and many nieces and nephews besides a host of friends.
Funeral services were held from her home in Fowlerville Monday September 14, with interment made in Greenwood Cemetery.
