The Reverend George Thomas Story left his family and friends to join The Lord on April 1, 2016. He was born in Gates County, NC to James Wendell Story and Edna Earle Parker Story. In his 92 years on earth, his passion was to bring others to Christ. In preparation, he graduated from Bob Jones University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. As a Southern Baptist minister, he led churches in Texas, North and South Carolina. His longest tenure was at First Baptist Church, Clover, South Carolina. He later led a college business school and financed church building bond programs for many years. If anyone ever had a five minute conversation with him, they would be offered an opportunity to follow The Lord's teachings and be saved. In retirement, he found joy in teaching Sunday School and leading Bible study classes. He loved hymns and found great comfort listening to his music while he studied the scripture. He loved his family, enjoyed telling a good joke, golfing and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Wendell Story and Edna Earle Parker Story, his younger brother Horace Story, Sister-in-law Frances, and niece Brenda Story. Rev. Story is survived by his son Mark Story (Tracy) and grandchildren, Allyson, Olivia, Andrew and James; daughter Judy Story Owen (Perry) and grandchildren Graham, Katie and Haynes; daughter Ruth Story (Cristal Doggett). He is also survived by niece Becky Story Hall (Wayne) and their sons, Ryan Hall and Stephen Hall (Casey) and son Zane; and cousin Sarah Haddock of Atlanta, Georgia.

Rev. Story is also preceded in death by his second wife, Betty Robinson Story, and survived by step-daughter Carolyn Robinson Franklin (Bobby) and step grandchildren Jordan (Anna) their children Ayla and Elijah and Nathan (Sara) and their children Macie and Hayden.

The family extends a special thank you to Charlotte Novant Hospital staff and Novant Hospice, especially Maggie, Dr. Michael Hoben and Dr. John Pasquini. The family would also like to acknowledge a special thank you to the nurses and caregivers at The Summit Place of South Park for everything they do daily, not only for us, but everyone. We are also grateful to his close friends who continued through the years to bring joy to him with their prayers, cards, calls and visits.

The family will receive guests at 10am on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at McEwen Funeral Home at Sharon Memorial Park prior to an 11 am graveside service, also at Sharon Memorial Park. Following the service, the family will receive friends at their home.

Remembrances may be made to Bob Jones University or to the Bible Broadcasting Network.

McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park is honored to be entrusted with the care for Pastor Story and his family.
