John Riojas, known as "Rocky," was a City Police Officer in San Antonio, Texas. He served 11 years for the Police Force, dying in the line of duty at age 37. Officer Riojas was summoned to an Apartment Complex for a Public Disturbance. He got involved in a foot chase with the suspect and a struggle ensued. The suspect gained control of Officer Riojas's service weapon and shot the Officer once in the head before fleeing. Other Officers in the area responded to the gunfire. Officer Riojas was transported to a hospital, where he died two hours later, the following day. The suspect was found and arrested several days later, at his trial, he was sentenced to death. Officer Riojas was survived by his wife and two young children.
