OBITUARY--
CAROLYN SUE HINDERAKER
Des Moines
Carolyn Sue Hinderaker, 64, died Sunday, November 2, 2003 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, November 6 at Sheridan Park United Methodist Church. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 8 at Berwick Cemetery.
Sue was born in Earlham, IA, the daugher of Lester and Lola (Keesey) Merical on August 1, 1939. She lived in the Des Moines area most of her life. She worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 15 years then ran a daycare out of her home for 18 years. She was a 30 year member of Sheridan Park United Methodist Church and a member of the Martha Circle at her church. She was a Girl Scout leader for five years and enjoyed wintering in Arizona and camping. She was be remembered by her family and friends for her love of laughter and telling stories.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jim; daughter, Taya of Des Moines; sister Bev Pollpeter and husband Stan of Pleasant Hill; brother, Charles "Buzz" Merical and wife Sharon of San Diego, CA; brother, Terry Merical and wife Sandra of Oskaloosa; brother in law, Ron Hinderaker and wife Hazel of Arvada, CO; several nieces, nephews; great-nieces and nephews; a host of friends; and "Susie's Kids."
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 5 at Grandview Park Funeral Home in Des Moines. Memorial contributions ma be made to her family to be directed to Sue's favorite organizations.
