John Edward Askew married Katherine Ann 'Kittie' Thompson on 13 Dec 1887 in Colbert County, Alabama and they had 6 children. These children were Emma Adaline 1889-1916; Charles Washington 1891-1951; Mattie Blanche 1893-1982; Gordon Wakefield 1894-1962; Noah Webster 1896-1976 and Fred Austin 1900-1982. All the children were born in Alabama.

Franklin Times, Russellville, Alabama, Thursday, November 19, 1908 -- John Askew and family left Monday for Hugo, Oklahoma, where they will make their future home. Mr. Askew, who was born and reared in this county, is getting up in years but he said that two of his sons were living at Hugo and that they were anxious that he come out there and spend his remaining years with them.

Mrs. Kittie Ann Askew, 87, died Friday night at the home of her daughter Mrs. T. C. Hutchings, Ervin Rt, Hugo. Born April 20, 1860 in Franklin County, Al., Mrs. Askew had lived in Choctaw County 39 years. Surviving besides Mrs. Hutchings are four sons, Tobe Askew, Harvey Askew and Fred Askew all of Hugo and N. W. Askew, Portsmouth, Va., 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kittie Ann Askew, Hugo Erwin Route resident the past 29 years who died Friday night in the home of a daughter, were held in the Springs Chapel cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Coffey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. T. C. Hutchings; five sons, Tobe, Fred and Harvey, all of Hugo Ervin Route, Charles of Omak, Washington and W. W. Askew of Portsmouth, Va.; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Askew was born April 21, 1860.

The Rev. M. N. McFarland, Baptist minister, officiated. Coffey Funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Askew died at 7:30 o'clock Saturday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. T. C. Hutchings, Ervin route. Other survivors are Mrs. Ida Bishop, of Philcampbell, Ala., and five sons, Tobe Askew, Fred Askew and Harvey Askew of Hugo, Charlie Askew of Ornak, Wash., and N. W. Askew, of Portsmouth, Cal. Eighteen grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Askew was born in Alabama in 1860. She had lived in this county for the last 40 years.
