Ruth was born July 31, 1961, in Oregon City and was raised in Aurora. She graduated from North Marion High School and moved to Woodburn, where she worked as a day care provider.
Ruth married Burke Burns on Dec. 24, 1994, in Salem. They lived in Cascadia and Sweet Home before moving to Lebanon. Ruth worked briefly as a receptionist in the office of Lila McQueen before becoming office manager for a hardware store merchandiser.
Ruth enjoyed making crafts, her dogs, fishing and hunting.
She is survived by her husband, Burke, of Lebanon and sister Blanche "Etta" Courser of Keizer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ward and Mary Strauser, and sister Mary Rosina Yonally.
