She was born Dec 18, 1916, in Point Township, a daughter of the late Charles Hamilton and Nora Phoebe (Ramer) Hoover. Her father died when she was e months old, and she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Isaac Francis Murray. On June 30, 1936, she married Earl L. Longacre, who preceded her in death on March 14, 1995. His passing ended a marital union of 59 years.
Mrs. Longacre was a 1935 graduate of Northumberland High School.
She was formerly employed by Kermits Ebert's 5 and 10 cent store and warehouse. Later, she and her husband were the owners and operators of Ranch Restaurant from 1956 to 1965.
Mrs. Longacre was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Northumberland, and Class No. 23 of the Sunday school. She served on the administration board and many other capacities within the church.
Mrs. Longacre was a devoted Christian wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed her home and family. She also enjoyed gardening, especially raising flowers. She had an avid interest in genealogy and keeping in contact with friends and family by letter writing and telephone conversations.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Larry A. and Linda J. Longacre of Northumberland; one daughter and son-in-law, Earlene J. and Jay A. Beaver of Kratzerville; two grandchildren, Shawn M. and Lina Longacre, and Jodi L. Longacre; two great-grandchildren, Amanda L. and Alison J. Wagner; an d numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were two brothers, Wilbert H. and George E. Hoover, and a sister, Ellen S. Ricker.
