Union, Dec 29 - His friends were shocked to learn last Monday morning of the death of Mr Renick Humphreys, which occurred at his home on the Knobs near Union about 5 o'clock that morning. He had suffered the fracture of of the bone of his left thigh above the knee on Dec by the falling on it of a heavy rock which he and another man were carrying to a wagon. The broken bone was set and Mr Humphreys seemed to be making a fairly good recovery. Early on Christmas morning he was sitting on the side of his bed when he suddenly asked that he door be opened. His wish had hardly been complied with when he fell back dead. It is supposed that heart disease ended his life. Mr Humphries was a son of Mr Cornelius Humphries of the Sinks Grove neighborhood and was about 35 years of age.
