AMESBURY DAILY NEWS - 14 April 1919:
*********************************
Another happy home has been saddened by death. Clarence Y. Gowen, a young man 27 years old passed away at his home, 39 Pearl Street, late Saturday night after a few days illness of influenza and pneumonia.
He attended our public schools and was a graduate of the Haverhill Business College, after which he associated himself with the
J. N. Leitch Company, and later as a junior member of the firm of Hinckley and Baxter.
The business community has lost one of its promising young men. Mr. Gowen was a clean, upright young man, with a character that inspired admiration and respect, quiet in disposition yet he made many friends and
his friendships were of the loyal, lasting kind.
He loved his home and the home folks.
In their sad and sudden bereavement they have the loving sympathy of all.
