Amy Marie Lind Babbitt passed away Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at the home of her son in Burley, Idaho.
She was born Aug. 1, 1924, in Brigham City, Utah, to Raymond August and Verna LaRue Hansen Lind. After Verna's death, she was proud to claim Mildred Barlow Lind as her mother. She married William Richard Babbitt on July 8, 1942, in Walla Walla, Wash.
She is survived by her six children, Dennis (Jo Ann) of Burley, Karen (Bob) Spangler of Payson, Utah (serving an LDS mission in Independence, Mo.), Christina (Nolan) Longhurst of West Jordan, Utah, David (Debbie) of Blackfoot, Mark (Jeanette) of Oakley and Nylene (Cal) Rowley of St. George, Utah; her siblings, Lucille Firth, Elden (Melba Jean) Lind, Anita (Larry) Justesen and Nila (Blaine) Partington; 42 grandchildren; and 83 great-grandchildren, with more on the way; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one grandson. She also opened her home and heart to five Lamanite placement students who lived with the family during many school years.
Amy worked at Bushnell Hospital in Brigham City during World War II, taught school for one year and had been a "stay-at-home" mom since. Amy and Bill lived in Lynn, Utah, until they moved to Oakley in 1960. She was always positive and could find enjoyment in any situation. She enjoyed nature, planted lots of trees and enjoyed reading books. As long as she was able, she was always canning, seen at Tri-Ward Quilting, making a quilt for someone, reading or crocheting. She had many good friends whom she loved and served. She was happy for small acts of kindness and appreciated everything anyone did for her.
Over the years, age dimmed her mind and slowed her body but never lessened her love for her family. After the death of her husband, she was grateful to live with her children, most recently at the home of her son in Burley.
