Private First Class Robert Gary Koval was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, PFC Koval served our country until May 11th, 1969 in Pleiku, South Vietnam. He was 20 years old and was not married. It was reported that Robert died from undetermined causes. His body was recovered. Robert was born on July 30th, 1948 in Fairmont, West Virginia. PFC Koval is on panel 25W, line 050 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.
Robert was the only child of Evelyn Belma Satterfield Koval of Fairmont, WV
He served with Alpha Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, USARV.
He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
He was killed in action at Pleiku on May 11, 1969 that took the lives of five other men in his company:
