Obituary: C. Shoemaker dies today
Charles H. Shoemaker, 73, of 349 North Chestnut St., Jefferson, died unexpectedly at 9 A.M. today (Thursday) at his home.
Prior to his retirement in 1968 he had worked several years for the Jefferson Village Board of Public Affairs. He was also a former mechanic for G.C. Meade when he operated the Chevrolet agency in Jefferson.
Mr. Shoemaker was born in Napoleon, the son of Peter V. and Julia (Moore) Shoemaker, on July 18, 1900. On Aug. 8, 1969, he married Mrs. Helen Malyk in Erie.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Charleen) Miller of Mentor; a son, Kenneth Shoemaker of Jefferson; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Fee of Howland and Mrs. Josephine Easton of Colebrook; 14 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded by his first wife, Agnes, and a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Faye) Winchell and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at the Miller Funeral Home in Jefferson. Rev. L. Wayne Montgomery, pastor of the Lenox Federated Church, will officiate. Calling hours will be observed Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Oakdale cemetery.
