Albert Watt Hobt Jr. was the only child of Albert Watt and Nell Bridges Mullineux Hobt. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, and grew up in Knoxville, Tn. He graduated from Knoxville High School.

In the US Federal Census records he appears in:

- 1930 for Knoxville, Knox Co., Tn with his parents
- 1940 for Knoxville, Knox Co., Tn with his parents, his maternal grandfather, occupation listed as second year university student (University of Tn)

U.S. World War II Army Enlistment Records, 1938-1946 show that Albert Watt Hobt Jr. enlisted as a private in the Army on 18 July 1941. The U.S. World War II Navy Muster Rolls, 1938-1949 show he mustered in on 3 Jan 1943. He served in World War II in the Pacific as a medic. He was released from the Army on 22 Sep 1945.

Before the WWII he attended both the University of Tennessee and Tusculum College.

He married Anne Fain Sims in Knoxville Tn. They were the parents of three children:
- Annie Hobt
- Gaynelle Hobt Morton
- Fritz Karl Hobt

After their marriage they lived in Fountain City and were attending members of Fountain City Presbyterian Church. He was a scout master, played bridge, read books, told stories, loved hiking and camping and was always trying new things. He loved both the mountains and the beach. In winter, he enjoyed spending long Sunday afternoons with his family in the old Lawson McGhee Library researching his next interest. He loved to laugh and enjoyed people and his family. He was active in AA.

He died accidentally at home from a fall down the basement stairs.
