Services for Tennie Kirkwood, 97, 110 S. Olive St., will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Denton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery. The Rev. Ed Kneeland and the Rev. Jack Smith will officiate.
Mrs. Kirkwood died Monday (Feb. 8, 1993) at Lakeview Christian Home North Gate Unit. She was born July 9, 1895, in Henderson County, Texas, where she was raised. She married Jim Kirkwood July 18, 1949, in Henderson County, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1977. She moved to Carlsbad that same year.
She is survived by two daughters, Etta Frances Summitt of Sacramento, Calif., and Winona Fennell of Carlsbad; one brother, Grady Garner of Texarkana, Texas; three sisters, Edna Williams of Texarkana, Ark., Katie Brasfield of Tyler, Texas, and Lou Ella Boyd of Athens, Texas; six grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charles Smith, Leonard Stuart, Roger Killpatrick, Keith Killpatrick, Warren Harding and Harrison Johnson.
