BOY DIES OF BURNS
Isabella Youth Fourth Victim of Residence Fire on June 12
Mt. Pleasant, July 5, A June 12 fire in a rural home claimed its fourth victim Friday in the Central Michigan Community Hospital.
Roger Flaugher, 16, died Friday of burns received in his mother's home 12 miles northwest of here.
He had been in critical condition since the fire. Two nephews and a niece, all children of his sister, Mrs. Arthur McQueen, perished in the fire that swept the home following an explosion.
Glenn McQueen, 7; his sister, Sharon, 5, and a brother, Charles, 3, all died in the fire. Another sister, Susie, four months hold, is still confined to the hospital
The mother was also burned. All of the dead were sleeping on the second floor of the home at the time. Roger jumped from a window, but was severely burned.
The father was staying at the family home in Mt. Pleasant at the time while his wife had gone to the home to prepare it for occupancy.
The home was owned by Mrs. Audrey Flaugher of Howell, mother of Mrs. McQueen. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Stimson funeral home. Source: Lansing State Journal (Lansing, Michigan) 05 Jul 1958, pg 3
