Charles died in the Grove Mont Rest Home
at Bradenton where he had been a patient
for four months.

Charles and Ella married on 11 June 1900
at Ludlow, Hampden, Massachusetts.
No children were born to them.

On 12 September 1918 Charles enlisted at
Ludlow for service in WWI.

Charles W. Gowen, age 90, died Wednesday night at Bradenton, Florida.
He had resided at Bradenton for the past eight months, his regular residence was 19 Winsor Street at Ludlow.
He was a graduate of Childs Business College of Boston.
He was associated with the Ludlow Manufacturing Associates from 1890 until the early 1920's, holding positions as bookkeeper, paymaster, and assistant agent. He severed his connections with the company to form an insurance agency.
In 1922 he became president of Ludlow Savings, occupying that position until 1924. During his tenure of office,the bank purchased and occupied new quarters and completely revised its bylaws.
In 1924 the Charles W. Insurance Agency became the Gowen and Twombly Insurance Agency. He remained active with the insurance and real estate firm until he was age 85. He had been treasurer since its formation. He was considered to be the dean of insurance men in the Ludlow area.
He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist of Springfield and served
the church as treasurer for many years.
He was a charter member of the Ludlow Lions Club; the Ludlow Hospital Society; and the Ludlow Country Club. He belonged to the Springfield Insurance Agents Association; and the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents.
