Charles Floyd Rhea, 72, of Manitowoc, Wis., passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay, Wis. His death was due to a head injury sustained in a fall at the Manitowoc Senior Center. Mr. Rhea was there to attend a weekly Bible study.
Charles Rhea was born on Nov. 20, 1934, in Jester, Texas, and lived for many years in Corsicana. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1953 and attended Navarro Junior College. In 1957 he obtained a bachelor's degree in industrial arts from North Texas State College (now the University of North Texas).
In 1974 Mr. Rhea moved his family from Fort Worth to Manitowoc, Wis. He was employed by Fisher Hamilton in Two Rivers, Wis., and worked there until his retirement in 2001 as senior project manager.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar B. Rhea and Gladys (Fortner) Rhea.
He is survived by his wife, Joan (Hemphill) Rhea of Manitowoc, Wis.; daughter and son-in-law, Yvette "Chip" Johnson and Terry Johnson of Manitowoc; son, John Rhea of Hutchins; daughter, Rebecca Rhea of Jackson, Tenn.; grandchildren, Travis (Leisha) Johnson of Manitowoc, Andy Johnson of Jackson, Tenn., Ensign Kyle (Lesley) Johnson of Athens, Ga., and Zane Rhea and Chelsea Rhea, both of Carrollton; and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Ruth Johnson of Athens, Ga.
Mr. Rhea was a longtime, faithful member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed studying the Bible, gardening, fishing and collecting arrowheads. Charles and Joan were blessed to celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2006.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana. Graveside services and burial of the remains will follow at Dresden Cemetery in Navarro County.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
