Marjorie Beatrice (Davis) Thacker, 80, of Scottsville, died on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at Hospice House in Charlottesville.

She was born on January 7, 1930, in Buckingham County, a daughter of the late Allen King and Pinia Allen (Newton) Davis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Dodge Thacker; and two brothers, Ivery and Carlton Davis.

Mrs. Thacker was a member of James River Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Scottsville Rescue Squad. She owned the Silver Grill in Scottsville and enjoyed camping and gardening.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Linda Thacker Marshall and her husband, Jimmy, of Scottsville; a brother-in-law, A. Raymon Thacker and his wife, Arbutus of Scottsville; two step-grandchildren, Kevin G. Marshall and his companion, Ginger Yancey of Scottsville and Sonny Marshall and his wife, Jennifer of Earlysville; two great-grandchildren, Keiara L. Marshall and Brandon T. Yancey; four nieces, Denise Davis and her husband, John Billies of Scottsville, Crystal Davis of Richmond, Becky McGee of North Carolina, and Virginia Lee Bishop of Yorktown; three nephews, Matthew Thacker of Scottsville, Cary Thacker of South Carolina and Steve Baril of Richmond; a great-niece and nephew, Gabrielle and Grant Billies; her best friend, Audrey Jean Rice; and her wonderful caregivers, Brenda Amos, and Alicia and Eyvone Johnson.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2010, at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottsville by the Reverend James C. Jetton. Burial will follow at Scottsville Cemetery.
