Bobbie (Bob) L. Burgner, 77, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, in an Athens medical facility.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in Japan during the Korean War.
He later retired from American Uniform Co. in Cleveland. He was a charter member of Henegar Baptist Church in Cleveland, but attended Grace Baptist Church in Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Pauline Coleman Burgner; two sisters: Linda Burgner and Georgia Burgner Sczepanik; and two brothers: Junior Burgner and Billy E. Burgner.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie S. Burgner of Decatur; children and spouses: Douglas and Melinda Burgner of Cleveland, Deborah and David Houston of Harrison, Donna Jones, Denise Wright and Daniel Burgner, all of Decatur; stepson, Austin Lunsford and wife, Kelly, of Decatur; two brothers: Dana Burgner and Don Burgner of Cleveland; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special sister-in-law, Martha Meadows of Decatur.
The funeral will be held Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Grissom Funeral Home with the Revs. Joe Andrews and Darrell Womac officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Sunday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
