Verna G. Burton Payne - a longtime resident of Saraland, the last living child of 12 children, born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles William Jefferson Burton on September 18, 1921 in Enondale, MS, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010. She was a longtime member of Consolation Primitive Baptist Church in Chickasaw. Mrs. Payne is survived by her children, Linda Bermudez (Pedro) of Chickasaw, Shirley Andrews (William) of Saraland, Raymond E. Payne (Jo Ann) of Satsuma, and Marsha Apostalo of Saraland; eight grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; 14 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 29, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Buddy Adams, Craig Payne, Steven Andrews, Richie Gibson, Josh Herrington, and David Stout, Jr. Condolences may be offered at www.radney funeralhome-saraland.com.
