YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A funeral service celebrating the homegoing of Mrs. Lucinda E. Brown will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010 at noon at Washington Funeral Home with Rev. Will Parker officiating. Mrs. Brown affectionately known to her family and friends as "Nanny" was born June 30, 1923, in Durant, Mississippi, a daughter of John and Beatrice Love, coming to the Mahoning Valley of Ohio many years ago. She was the loving wife of John S. Brown Sr. whom she married in April 1941, who passed away in January of 1998. She received an associates degree in social science from Youngstown State University and dedicated her life to helping others. She was formerly employed as a social worker with Gilead House and Hastrom House. She dedicated her time and talents to the Community Action Council, Northside Action Council, and the 5th Ave. Community Council. On Nov. 22, 2010, our heavenly Father cast his eternal light onto St. Elizabeths Health Center and beckoned her home. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter, Evelyn E. Brown-Belt Mitchell and her husband, Ronald; two sons, John S. Brown Jr., and Larry A. Brown all of Youngstown; her sister, Alice L. Gates of Belzoni, MS; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Love; and a brother, Johnny Love. Friends may call Saturday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
