MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Marvin L. Beeler, 88, of Mercersburg, Pa., died at 1:17 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at his home.
Born Sept. 25, 1922, in St. Thomas, Pa., he was a son of the late William S. and Etta Zeger Beeler.
He was a 1941 graduate of Lemasters High School, Lemasters, Pa. In 1946, he married the former Jean Gluck and together they farmed.
Mr. Beeler was a lifelong member of St. Paul's UCC of Lemasters. He had been an active member of the Lemasters Community Center and helped to build their building. He was a charter member of the Edward Parnell Ruritan Club and was one of the original group of men who started the Bear Valley Water Association.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Richard W. Beeler, Rodney J. Beeler and Jeffrey L. (husband of Kimberly) Beeler, all of Mercersburg; two grandchildren, Jeremy Beeler of Allentown, Pa., and Amber (wife of John) Starr of Mercersburg; one great-grandson, Joshua Starr. Also surviving are a sister, Edna Dietrich of Boonsboro, Md., and two brothers, Donald Beeler of Chambersburg, Pa., and Kenneth Beeler of Wadsworth, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman and Glenn Beeler, and a sister, Hazel Blattenberger.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with the Rev. Robert Mentzer, pastor of St. Paul's UCC Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Viewing 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
