TERRE HAUTE — Samuel E. Yesley Jr., 69, of Terre Haute, passed away at 10:11 a.m. on Nov. 27, 2010, at his residence. He was born Jan. 25, 1941, in Terre Haute, to Samuel and Nellie (Adams) Yesley.

He is survived by five daughters, Diana Smith-Ray and husband Harold Jr., Susan E. McKee and husband Russell, Judith Stelly and husband Wilson, Brenda M. Smith and husband Jim, Lori Ann Swain and husband Lawrence Sr.; one sister, Henrietta Yesley Adams; 16 grandchildren, Jeffrey A. Smith, Joseph L. Smith, James C. Hill II, Vanna J. Gray, Tipton C. Kindel III, Samuel E. Kindel, Aaron Stelly, Christina Guidroz, Jessica M. Neice, Joshua W. Norris, Zachary R. Smith, Justin M.Smith, Linda Lou Swain, Lawrence L. Swain Jr., Sara Ray, and Jeffrey Ray; 18 great-grandchildren, Noah J. Smith, Katelyn J. Smith, Max E. Smith, Conner Schell, Hunter Schell, Christopher Schell, Caydence Gray, Benjamin Pitre, Daniel Pitre, Victoria Smith, Cody Smith, Chaz Guidroz, Gage N. Neice, Kasper I. Neice, Hailey Hillhouse, Ashton W. Lundy, Sis and Bub Ray, and two on the way; one great-great-grandchild, Kaiden Stevens.

He was married to Linda L. Yesley for 47 years, she preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by five sisters, Marjorie Latham, Mary Ann Chapman, Linda Mae Gossett, Betty Yesley, and Virginia Sollars; his parents; and a son-in-law, Max E. Smith.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Monday, at Maplewood Christian Church, with the Rev. Craig Winninger officiating. Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. until service time Monday, at the church. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home and Crematory was entrusted with the arrangements.
