John "Jack" Abbott, age 75 of Gobles passed peacefully Saturday, December 6, 2008 surrounded by his family as a result of a vehicle accident. Jack was born May 6, 1933. He was a caring and giving man who loved to laugh. He was an avid sportsman who looked forward to fishing with his grandchildren. He was united in marriage 57 years ago to Char Calliari, who survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Vickie Wedel; Pam Abbott; Gloria Abbott-Wheeler; Chris Gorton and his unofficially adopted son, Scott Israel; three sons-in-law, Jim Wedel; Marc Wheeler and Todd Gorton; as well as 8 grandchildren, Jaime (her husband, Dan); Ben; Cari (passed away 1983); Kristy; J.J.; Zac; Emily; Alex. The family will meet friends Wednesday, 10:00 AM until Noon at the GOBLES CHAPEL, D. L. Miller Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 1:00 PM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Allegan. Because of his immense love of animals, Jack would appreciate donations to the local SPCA (269) 344-1474 or a shelter of donors choice. This amazing soul will be deeply missed by friends and loved ones.
