Lillian R. Western Harrison

Lillian Rebecca Western Harrison of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2003 surrounded by her family. She was born in Martinsburg, West Virginia. She married James W. Harrison, also of Martinsburg, in 1946 and last year they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. They had three daughters and spent many years in Maryland, New York City and France as part of Lt. Col Harrison’s military assignments. They moved to Ft. Sam Houston, Texas in 1962 and have made their home in Northwest San Antonio. Mrs. Harrison is survived by her husband James ; daughters Bonnie Friese, husband Roland, Jill Harrison Souter and husband Steve, Jackie McEwen and husband Mike; grandchildren Kim Potter, Heather Belzung, and Kevin McEwen and great-grandson, Kipp Potter . She is also survived by sisters, Naomi Faulkwell of Martinsburg, WV., Norma Bussard of Hagerstown, MD and Patricia Frye of Shepherdstown, WV., and brother Charles Western of Kingfisher, OK. Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, Katherine Airy Walker and Norman Lee Western, and sisters Alma Pittsnogle, and Louise Dorsey. Mrs. Harrison spent her life raising three treasured daughters who were the center of her life, creating a beautiful home no matter where they lived. She was a member of PTA’s and served as a Girl Scout and Brownie Scout leader. She was a member of the Military Officer’s Wives Club. She was an avid gardener, loved bowling, and was very active in her neighborhood association, serving as a board member for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved planning and hosting family activities. She was known by friends and neighbors for her unselfish dedication to helping others. Her life represents all that is good in this world. Lillian was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter and a friend for life. Her passing will leave a void in many hearts. SERVICES The family will receive Visitors on Thursday, January 30, 2003 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Dr. The Graveside Service and Interment will be held on Friday, January 31, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with Rev James Boring officiating Those who desire may make a memorial contribution to Hospice of San Antonio, 8721 Botts ln., San Antoino. TX 78217. Arrangements are with Mission Park Funeral Chapels North.
