Franklin A. Althouse died of Bright's disease, aged 67 years, 3 months and 23 days, at 5:50 a.m. today, at his residence, 922 Washington. He was in failing health for 2 years, and seriously ill since Saturday. Mr. Althouse was born in Upper Bern and came t this city when young. For 38 years he was a passenger engineer on the East Penn road, between Allentown ad Harrisburg, a position he held until 2 years ago, when he resigned owing to failing health. Mr. Althouse was a careful engineer and held in high esteem by the officials of the company. He was probably one of the best known engineers in its employ. His wife Amelia (nee Hinnershitz), died 2 years ago. He is survived by three children: Mrs. J. Elias Redcay, Mrs. Charles M. Plank, Wm. F. and Harry J. Althouse, of this city; also these brothers, Reuben, of Parkersburg, Pa.; Benjamin, Monroe, Wilson, of Reading; John, of Australia, and a sister, Mrs. William K. Drexel. Mr. Althouse was a member of the First Reformed church, and P. & R. relief association.
