My Great Uncle Wilfrid, was one of 6 sons and 7 daughters of Joseph LeMay and Melina Marie Emilia Lantagne. He was Baptized at the St. Joseph's Church in the City Of Biddeford, Maine.
Wilfrid enlisted in the US Army on June 30, 1916 at Fort Slocum, NY.
He was a member of the American Expiditionary Forces to Europe from
August 25, 1917 thru March 12, 1919. He took part in the Champagne
Marne Defense from July 15th thru July 18th, 1918; the Aisne-Narne
Offense of July 19th-August 6, 1918; the St. Mihiel Offense of
September 12 thu September 16, 1918 and the Meuse Argonne Offense of
September 26 thru Novenber 11, 1918 (Armistice Day). Wilfrid had blue
eyes, dark brown hair, ruddy complexion and was five feet and 8 1/2
inches in height. Serial Number #151717 - Private First Class - Coast
Artillery Corps. Honorable Discharge from the Service on June 4, 1920.
Wilfrid married Lucie Alexandrine Helene Edel on January 18, 1919 at the Notre Dame de Vitry-le-Francois, France. Wilfrid Left behind 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews as well as one daughter Jeanine LeMay Neveu.
