The Hazard branch of the Onondaga County Public Library on West Genesee Street near Solvay was named for him.
Frederick R. Hazard, president of the Solvay Process company, civic and industrial leader, philanthropist and Central New York's most public spirited citizen died at 5:30 P.M. yesterday at the Syracuse Hospital for Women and Children, aged 58 years.
Mrs. Hazard was Miss Dora Gannett Sedgwick and she and Mr. Hazard were married May 29th, 1886. Of five children born to them, four survive. The children are: Dorothy, born 1887, now Mrs. Edwin C. Witherby; Sally Sedgwick Hazard, now Mrs. Martin H. Knapp, born 1889; Katherine Hazard, born 1890; Frederick R. Hazard, Jr., born 1891 and Robert Sedgwick Hazard, born, 1895, and died, 1906.
Funeral is private.
