Pfc. Buddy W. McLain, 24, of Mexico, Maine died Nov. 29, in Nangarhar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when an insurgent attacked his unit with small arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky. He was married in Peru, Maine on March 11, 2009 to Chelsea Freeman. Other survivors include a son Owen Patrick McLain of Peru; his parents Larry and Patti McLain of Mexico; three brothers Dustin McLain of Mexico, Cote McLain of Clarkesville, TN, and Greg Gibbons of Rumford; Father and Mother in Law Andrew and Brenda Freeman of Peru; a brother in law Dustin Freeman of Lewiston close friends; Wayne Puiia and Bob Fulton, of Rumford, Seth Hutchinson of Appomattox, VA, Jeremy Bybee and Nicholas Miller of Clarksville, TN.
