Alice M. (Smith) Allen, 81, of 108 Arthur St., a retired lunchroom supervisor in the city schools, died Sunday in Municipal Hospital. Born here, she was a graduate of the High School of Commerce, and a lifelong resident. She was in the East Springfield Chapter of the Golden Agers, and the Mended Hearts. Her husband, Brinton P. Allen, died in 1980. She leaves two sons, Donald B. and Robert C.; two daughters, Patricia A. Kennedy and Martha J. Tabb, all of Springfield; 16 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Her daughter, Nancy M. Nicoll, died in 1993. The funeral will be this morning at Byron's Allen Street Funeral Home, with burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Municipal Hospital Guild, 1400 State St., Springfield, 01109.
