Riley Maye McKinney Barcley Killion

Mrs. Mae McKinney Backley Killion, 106, of Ratcliff, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in Crockett. She was born August 3, 1908 in Houston County and lived in the Ratcliff community most of her life, where she graduated from Ratcliff High School. After attending Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville, Mrs. Killion returned to Houston County where she had a long career in public education; including service as a teacher at the Conner Creek School and Ratcliff Schools and later working in the Houston County School Superintendents Office. A pillar of her community, Mrs. Killion was a charter member of Ratcliff Baptist Church and was instrumental in starting the Ratcliff Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by step-sons, Reese Killion and wife Betty; granddaughter, Ruth Killion Miller; step-great-grandchildren, Reese Miller, Tyler Miller, and numerous other relatives.

Mrs. Killion is preceded in death by husband, Odell Killion and step-son, Ray Killion.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mae Killion will be held in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dennis Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Guiceland Cemetery.
