Death of Alexander C. Pardee

Meadville, Nov. 12-Services in memory of Alex C. Pardee, veteran newspaper man, who died suddenly at his home, 1169 South Water Street, early today, will be conducted from the Byham Funeral Home Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., with interment in Greendale Cemetery.

Born 77 years ago, Mr. Pardee spent 61 years of his life in the newspaper game. At the age of 16, he began an apprenticeship as a compositor with the old Crawford Journal. After nine years as a typesetter, he turned to the reportorial side of newspaper work, and continued until his death, writing his last "story" on Sunday for publication in the Tribune Republican.

Besides the Meadville newspapers, Mr. Pardee had been employed by the Cochranton Times, the Bradford Record, the Kent, O. Bulletin, the Parker City Phoenix, the Franklin Herald, the Cambridge Springs Enterprise-News and the Titusville Herald. In 1801, he was appointed City Clerk of Meadville, serving for five years. He was a member of the I.O.O.F., the Knights of Pythias and the P.R.C.

Besides the widow, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Earl Krotzer, Mrs. Neil Hamilton, and Miss Josephine Pardee of this city; two grandsons, and a brother, Hugh B. Pardee, of Lockport, N.Y.
