Vera Calkins Earhart 1915-2010
OGLESBY — Mrs. Vera Calkins Earhart, 95, of rural Oglesby, passed away at 9:06 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at La Salle Healthcare Center.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, with the Rev. Danita Perra officiating at Burgess Funeral Home in Utica. Burial will be in Farm Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
She was born July 16, 1915, to Eddie and Maude (Payne) Armstrong. She married Lile Calkins in 1934 in Grand Ridge and Floyd Earhart on Oct. 4, 1973, in La Salle.
Vera was a housewife, worked at Westclox for more than 20 years and also was a partner with the Country Corner Restaurant in Utica. She was a member of Deer Park Ladies Mission Society and Tonica Methodist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Sandra (Don) Ribolzi of Oglesby, Edna (Charles) Schiffbauer of Tonica, Marilyn (William) Poutre of Utica, and Sheri (Duane) Dauber of San Diego, Calif.; two sons, Richard (Donna) Calkins of Deer Park and Sam (JoAnn) Calkins of Oglesby; one stepdaughter, Janet (Dale) Moats of Las Vegas; one stepson, Mark Earhart of Oregon; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lile in 1966; her husband, Floyd in 1987; six brothers; two sons, Gary in 1993 and Arnold in 2008; and one grandson in 1990.
Pallbearers will be all of her grandsons.
