Obituary
On night of June 20th, 1912, the death angel visited our home and took from us our dear old grandfather, Allen J. Elliott, who was born Oct. 11th, 1838. He lived to reach the ripe old age of 72 years 9 months, and 9 days.
On October 29th, 1863, he was happily married to Miss Sarah Ann Grainger, and to this union was born three children, one of which precedes him to the better world.
He had been in feeble health for about two years and was stricken with paralysis only six day before his death, after which he never spoke again. We did all for him that willing hands and loving hearts could to stay the icy hands of death but to no avail.
He was a member of the Zoan Methodist Church and supported this organization with an honest heart until his death.
Therefore our loss is his eternal gain, and we mourn not without hope, but his past life gives us assurance that he is at home in heaven.
He leaves a wife, two children, one brother, one sister, and a host of grandchildren, and many friends to mourn his departure from among us.
From Zoan his own hill,
Where perfect beauty dwells, God hath his glory shown,
In brightness that excels.
Together let his friends,
Be gathered unto him,
Those that by bonds have made.
A friendship with him
The might God, the Lord,
Will speak unto all,
And just after the setting sun,
Grandpa, was one he called.
His Loving Grandson,
Crosby N. Elliott
