Ray Ames was born on March 18, 1901 in Missouri to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Ames and passed away on Friday, June 25, 1982 after an extended illness in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital, Cheyenne at 81 years of age.

He moved with his family as an infant in 1901 to Cogar, Oklahoma and had lived in Norman and Fort Supply before moving to Cheyenne in 1963.

Graveside services were conducted Monday, Jun 28, 1982 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, OK with Willard Cox officiating. Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include: one brother, his twin, Roy Ames of Blythe, Calif; 3 sisters, Mrs. Mary Elsie Baker of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Zona Stewart of San Marcos, Calif.; Mrs. Flossie Moss of Oak Dale, Calif.; 2 nieces, Mrs. Verta Leo Finch of Minco, OK, and Mrs. Betty Elder of Oklahoma City; 2 nephews, Bob and Don Ames of Oklahoma City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
