Olie Paul Clapp was born on 10-27-1918 in Pontotoc County, OK to Henry Milton Clapp (1884-1929) and Jessie Letha (Knight) Clapp (1887-1988). He had siblings: David Clapp (1913-1990), Harold M Clapp (1915-1937), Robert B Clapp (1920-1945) & Billy Clyde Clapp (1924-1970), James Dayton (1926-1986). His mother was also earlier married to William Wesley Mitchell which gave him 3 half-siblings: Beulah Inez Mitchell (1905-1988), Johney R Mitchell (1907-?) & Wesley Mitchell (1909).

1920 Census shows him Age 1, living in Ada Ward 3, Pontotoc County, OK with parents.

1930 Census shows him age 11, same as above with parents.

1940 Census shows him at age 22, Fort Francis E Warren Military Reservation, Laramie, Wyoming.

1950 Census shows him at age 32, Fort Benning and Lawson Air Force Base, Chattahoochee, Georgia, USA with wife, Evelyn M (30), Evelyn Yvonne Clapp (8) and Olie P Clap Jr (5).

1969 He was married to Brenda B (Dowd) Clapp in Richland, SC. He shares grave marker with her.

Per obit in Columbia, SC newspaper "The State", 29 Apr 1988:
Olie P Clapp Sr, 69, of 2802 Kennerly Road, Irmo, died Wednesday.
Born in OK, he was a WWII Army & Korean conflict veteran and retired after 33 years. He participated in the invasion of France and received the Bronze Star, Silver Star and a Commendation Medal. He was a member of Boyleston Masonic Lodge, the Order of the Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem, The Jamil Shrine Temple and St John's Lutheran Church of Irmo.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs Brenda Brock Clapp; a daughter, Mrs Yvonne Strickland of Atlanta; a son, Olie P Clapp Jr of Irmo; stepdaughters, Mrs Cherry Lynn Grimsley of Lexington and Mrs Abbey Dominick of Newberry; and a brother, David Clapp of Canton, TX.
Services will be held at 4 pm today at St John's Lutheran church and burial with military rites will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the building fund of St John's Lutheran Church.
