Mrs. Lou Anna Jernigan died Tuesday morning at 4:45 o'clock at her home on Route 2, Athens.

She was born on April 4, 1876, on Route 2 and had resided in that community all of her life. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Holcomb, and had been a member of the Methodist Church since she was thirteen years of age.

Her husband, J. S. Jernigan, died on December 12, 1939.

Surviving are one son, R.P. Jernigan, Athens, Route 2; five daughters, Mrs. G.R. Abernathy and Mrs. M.L. Wilbanks of Athens, and Mrs. L.E. Coleman, Mrs. Lila Lambright and Mrs. E.A. Wilbanks, all of Palestine; and twenty-one grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Carroll Springs Church Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock with the Rev. Marvin Johnson and Rev. Hull officiating. Burial was in the Carroll Springs cemetery.

Pallbearers were M.L. Wilbanks, E.A. Wilbanks, L.E. Coleman, G.R. Abernathy, Morris Johnson and Pink Holcomb. The Carroll and Lehr Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
