J.B. Fife, 89, of Amarillo died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa with the Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor of Central Baptist church of Pampa, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with Masonic graveside rites by Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 966 AF & AM.

Mr. Fife was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Yowell and had been a resident of Pampa since 1954. He married Dorothy Neely on June 17, 1944, in Marietta, Okla. On May 12, 1966, J.B. went to work as a mechanic for Culberson-Stowers Chevrolet, working there for more than 30 years, and he was a certified service technician for General Motors for 41 years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was a member and past master of Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 966 AF & AM, and he was a past District Deputy Grand Master Education Officer. J.B. was a member of the Lubbock Scottish Rite Consistory, Khiva Shrine Temple of Amarillo, Pampa Shrine Club, and he was a 32nd degree Mason for 46 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ola Jo West.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a son, Jerry Fife and wife Violeta of Austin; three daughters, Sue McGee and husband Lynn of Hot Springs, Ark., Donna Langley and husband Dave of Amarillo and Ruby Jane Mockros and husband Howard of Rapid City, S.D.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, TX 75219; or Hospice Care of the Southwest, 1301 S. Coulter St., Amarillo, TX.
