George Sprague Brooks of Groton, NY, a well known author, passed away suddenly on Saturday the 4th as he was driving his car up to the carriage porch of his home. Born at Brooksholm, Pearl creek, NY, on Feb. 7, 1895, he was the son of Benedict and Laura Sprague Brooks.
The burial will take place in the cemetery at Pearl Creek at a later date.
He served in World War I in the 77th Division.
In 1922 he married Helen Clark of Courtland who survives him, together with two children, Miss Helen Dwight Brooks, a Rochester lawyer and David M. Brooks, of Boston, who is in the advertising business. His oldest child, Hugh T. Brooks, joined the 3rd Army in World War II while a freshman in Yale and was killed in the Battle of the Bulge. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Thomas Hollis, Concord, N.H. and a brother, Charles Brooks who resides in the old home in Pearl Creek.
