John B. Roush was residing at Salem Township, Highland County, Ohio at the time of his death.

John B. Roush, eldest son of Phillip Roush, was baptized at the Old Pine Church in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. He followed his father to Adams County, Ohio, but by 1804 he had relocated his family to Hamer Township, northeast of Danville, in Highland County, Ohio, where he founded the Danville Lutheran Church.

John was married twice, his second wife Elizabeth being named in his will as receiving the entire estate. When or why his first wife died is unknown, but it is known that Magdelene Wendell Roush was the mother of all eleven of his children. John married Elizabeth in his 67th year.
