Funeral services will be held Friday, December 10, at 10 a.m. also at the Community of Christ Church with burial following at Cameron Memory Gardens.

Roy Eagan passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2010, in his home from liver cancer. He was the owner of Eagan's Printing and Stationary and Eagan's Home Furniture until his retirement seven years ago. He was an active member and an Elder of both the Community of Christ Church in Cameron, Mo., and the Los Fresnos congregation in Texas.

Roy was born in Lamar, Colo., on October 30, 1933, to Royal Pearl (Wood) and Roy George Eagan. He graduated from high school in Lamar, Color., in 1951, and earned his associate of arts degree in Physical Education at Graceland College in 1953 at Lamoni, Iowa. While attending college, he met Gretchen Edwards and they married in Woodbine, Iowa, on June 27, 1954. After marriage, he became a medic in the Army and they lived in Neu Ulm, Germany from 1954 to 1956.

After returning to the U.S. his first son, Roy Eldon Eagan, was born on December 5, 1958. His second son, Louis Eric Eagan, was born on December 8, 1961. His first daughter, Heather Gay Eagan, was born on August 2, 1965. His fourth child and second daughter, Gretchen "Gretel" Velva Eagan was born on September 25, 1969. Roy was known for his love of church, family, and friends. He has many friends who will deeply miss him. He was also known for his love of sports and his enjoyment of travel. He loved wood carvings, shells, music, photography, rock collecting, and plants. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh. He loved to tell a story. He continually cared about the Cameron community. He was Mayor in the 1970s and was partially responsible for the industrial boom that occurred then. The world will be a little less caring and a little less bright without him. He is survived by his oldest sister, Marguerite Worth (whose husband Fred is deceased) in Warrensburg, Mo.; his sister, Mary Bryant with her husband, Maury, in Independence, Mo.; his brother, John Eagan with his wife, Doris, in Lone Jack, Mo.; and his brother, Tony Eagan from Twin Peaks, Calif.

He is also survived by his children and grandchildren: Roy Eldon and Jacqueline from Cameron, Mo., whose children are Roy Kenton, age 23, Jillian, age 24, and Paula with her husband, Chris Noble; Louis, his wife Susan and their daughter, Katelin, age 13, of Lexington, Mo.; Heather, Marc Sutton, and her daughter, Sierra Charlson, age 10, of Platte City, Mo. Gretel, her husband Richard Johnson, and their twins, Chloe and Isabella, ages 8, of Belton, Mo.; his first great-grandchild, Aubrey Noble, daughter of Paula and Chris Noble, was born on Roy's birthday, October 30, and is now a year old.

He is further survived by his in-laws, Ruby Hamm and Harold Edwards; along with their many nieces and nephews.

Flowers and cards can be sent to the home of Roy Eagan at 202 Eagles Landing Parkway, Cameron, MO 64429. Roy Eagan was a major fund raiser and contributor to Camp Quality, a children's cancer camp. He wished for his memorial donations to be accepted for the Camp Quality organization.
