Charles J Evans, 79, of 155 Hartford avenue, former sexton of the Christian Science church, died at New Britain General hospital Thursday. He was born in Middletown and had lived in this city for many years. He was formerly employed by the Russell & Erwin Mfgt. Co. and the North & Judd Mfg. Co.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs Ada Allen Evans; two daughters, Mrs William E Wilson and Mrs Irene Smith, all of this city; a son, Arthur J Evans of Hartford; 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock in the funeral home of B C Porter Sons. Charles W Johnson, first reader at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, will conduct the services.
