George W. Robinson was born in NH approximately 1834. He was the son of William and Mary Robinson of Manchester, NH.

His father died at a young age and his mother ran a boarding house. He was one of many children, including twins girls Sarah Jane and Mary. He was he man of the house at age 16, he worked and assisted her in repairs to the homestead, He married Ellen Warren and then went off to join the Civil War. He enlisted 16 Sept 1861 and left New Hampshire on 18 Sept 1861. He was mustered out of the New Hampshire 4th Infantry Company C, 28 Sept 1862 at Beaufort, South Carolina. He was pensioned, he was discharged after unloading a shell from its vessel, he died from malaria. He died in Wilton, New Hampshire on 04-24-1873. His wife Ellen received his $8.00 per month pension. She died in 1930
