Mr. Breheny was a United States Marine Corps. veteran. He enlisted in the Corps in August of 1929 and was honorably discharged in August of 1933. He saw sea duty on the USS West Virginia (sunk at Pearl Harbor), USS Wyoming and the USS Wickes. He was awarded the Marine Corps. Good Conduct medal and qualified for the Expert pistol badge and the Marksman rifle badge.
