Michael moved to Monroe County, Virginia where he purchased a farm adjoining his sister and brother in law, Isabella and James Alexander, which is north and west of Union, West Virginia. He built Walnut Ridge Farm, which was later sold to the Beirne family. Michael was a signer of the town charter of Union, West Virginia.
