COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Clara C. Jernigan, 94, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Stewart Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 10, and from noon until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jernigan died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, in NHC Healthcare of Cookeville.
She was born June 18, 1016, in Putnam County to the late John Allison and Elizabeth Ome Crawford Mitchell.
Mrs. Jernigan was a member of the Presbyterian faith and a homemaker.
Her family includes a sister, Bessie Dubree of Cookeville; two nephews, Mike and Billy Dubree, both of Cookeville; two nieces, Brenda Lewis of Brentwood and Debbie Smith of Nashville; two grandsons, Grady Mitchell of Cookeville and John Mitchell of Sparta; and two great-grandchildren, Chase and Allen Dean Mitchell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Jernigan; a son, Bobby Mitchell; and five brothers, Lee, Solon, Bill, Archey and Durell Mitchell.
Pallbearers will be David Parris, Mike, Billy and Chris Dubree, Chase Mitchell, Wendal Bonnar, Brian Smith and Matt Grissom.
Bro. Mark Passord will officiate at the services.
