Mrs. Dezarie "Beab" Ashby, 87, of Florence, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 11, 2010, at Jacksonburg Church of Christ. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m., with Garry Gooch and her grandson, Matthew Ashby, officiating. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park, with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Ashby was born in Colbert County to the late John Wamsley Elliott and Ella Autry Elliott. She was a member of Jacksonburg Church of Christ for the past 18 years and was formerly a member of Woodlawn Church of Christ, where she began attending in 1950.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Claudette Raby, and a son, Wilburn Ralph Ashby. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond Gaylord and Beverly Ashby, of Decatur, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Lucille Ashby Anderson, Louisville, Ky.; sisters, Tiny Parker, Tishomingo, Miss., and Erin Callicutt, Virginia; grandchildren, Matthew Wilburn Ashby, Luke Ashby, Aaron Ashby, Caleb Ashby, all of Louisville, Ky., Evan Ray Ashby, Decatur, Ala., Elliott Tyson Ashby, Hartselle, Ala., and Rachel Duncan, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Ava Lennon Ashby, Lisa Claudette Duncan, Brianna Gusmus and Elijah Gusmus.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home.
