DALLAS - James Morris Perkins, 96, died Saturday. Graveside servies are at 1 p.m. today at Restland Memorial Park, 9220 Restland Road at Greenville Avenue, with Rev. Jerry P. Ott officiating.

He was born in Celeste on March 6, 1906, son of James Irvin and Ida Delana Morris Perkins. He completed his education in Celeste in 1925 and then began a long career with the Santa Fe Railroad as a switchman. On April, 16, 1931, he married Beulah Mae Hunter.

Mr. Perkins was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church of Dallas for 62 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and the Miller Masonic Lodge N. 224.

Mr. Perkins is survived by sister Nell Irvin Shrode of Carrollton; two sons, Dr. Terry Mac Perkins of Richardson and Ray Hunter Perkins of Dallas; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

His wife preceded him in death on March 25, 1994.
